Format

Played on TWO TABLES (one match on each at the same time)

Each match played over 15 frames (all played out unless "dead" games)

Each match contested over 3 sets of FIVE FRAMES.

Players may only play once per section (maximum of 3 times per match).

ONE point per match win.

Table positions were decided on:-

points for
frame difference
head to head

1st Match ~ 12-30 - 15-00

2nd Match ~ 15-00 - 17-15

3rd match ~ 17-15 - 19-30

The top TWO TEAMS in the table play a Final for 1st and 2nd place.

Final ~ 20-00 - 21-30 played over best of TEN FRAMES [2 x 5 sections]
(Play offs if required)
Both sections picked "blindly".

Each player had 2 shots at 14/1 and the results recorded.
There was a small prize for 1st and 2nd @ 14/1

This is how the group stage teamsheets work:-

SECTION 1
- each captain picks their first five
- a coin toss between captains takes place.
- the winner of the coin toss then chooses which team breaks first

after the first 5 frames there will be team ahead on frames and one losing on frames

SECTION 2
- the "losing" captain picks his five players
- the winning captain then looks at these and chooses his 5 players to play against them

SECTION 3
- the captain who picked 2nd to match the others in section 2 now has to pick 1st and vice versa

this means that one section is blind picking. the 2nd section is picked knowing the team currently losings players, and the last section those roles are reversed so each team gets one section that way, but the captain winning after section 1 should have a slight advantage in that he gets to do this mix n match 1st.

Results / Reports

The first matches kicked off with Martys team taking the first two frames then losing the next 7 before they dug their heels in to force a deciding frame at 7-7. J Pudie took the win for G Leggates Team.

On the other table M O'Briens team were holding I McLeans team until mid match where they faltered slightly. I McLeans team crossed the finish line a couple or so frames early with the final frames counting only for frame difference.

In the 2nd round of matches M O'Briens team made a terrible start against M Thoms team who were trying to fluke them off the table, adding also to some solid play. M Thom chose to put the same players against each other which ended up in the exact opposite result, levelling at 5-5. M O'Brien decided to match up the same players again and his team pulled further away to deny a tough "greenhills team" their first win.

On the other table G Leggates team were causing problems for I McLeans team. The match was tight all the way to the last section where I McLeans team stamped their authority on the match and won, guaranteeing them a final place before their 3rd match even took place.

The last 2 matches were stopped once winners were decided.
It made no difference to table placing.

I McLeans team were held to a tough task against the strong voiced M Thom team, but managed to see the match off, remaining undefeated.

The match between G Leggates team and M O'Briens team was one where the winners would join THE STROKERS in the final. M O'Briens team went 0-2 down before pulling ahead to the tune of 7-3 going into the final section. A Russo and L Robertson pegged back, but I McColl beat S Buchanan to see the BOYSWITHBIGSTICKS into the final.
