Good news guys, it's actually happening...

Hear is all the tourney Info;

Club 2000 is running a weekly Thursday night tournament which is only £3 a head and is open to any1 interested (pub players included). Depending on the amount of people that turn up will affect the prize fund but all money paid in will be paid out.

Breakdown of tournament: players will be split into groups of either 3, 4 or 5 (depending on numbers), you will play everbody once in your group, lag will determin the breaker. One frame only in group matches with 1 point for a win and 0 for a loss, an extra point can be gained for winning the frame on your first visit. Depending on the numbers in the group will determine how many people will go through from each group to the KO's, tie's in the group will result in sudden death killer to see who qualifys to the KO. The following rounds will also be one frame KO (if you get break n' dished you get a chance to do the same) until the semi finals which are best of 3 as is the final.

Tournament starts at 7oclock sharp but if you wish to play please have your name in for 6.45pm so we can start at 7pm on the button. As per the agreement with Monty we need at least 12 players for this tourney to run so if your not busy on Thursday then please come along and support us whilst we get this tourney up and running.

This is perfect last minute practise for all going to the SL next weekend as it's mainly competitive one frame pool so come along and enjoy yourself.

If all team captains could let all their players know about this tourney it would be much appricaited.

Well done to Jack and unlucky to Stu again, for me I though earlier in the tourney these two would play in the final if they didn't meet earlier in the night. Great black by Stu to take a 1-0 lead with Jack winning the second frame, the final game was as poor a frame as both these players played all night but it was Jack that fell over the line for the win. Has to be said though that both these guys didn't lose a frame all night till the final and were deserved finalists and money winners. Thanks to the guys that turned up tonight you made life very easy for us again. Nice to see a few new faces tonight.

Well done to Ian and unlucky Colin, 6 new faces last night made it interesting, we had a few late call off's meaning number weren't quite as high as expected but again it was a very enjoyble night. The mood Colin was in he was going to take some beating last night but credit to 8 ball, he was faultless in the SF stage and took that form into the final. Well done to Colin and unlucky to Marty, have to say last night was the best night we have had yet, a good few new faces and some good quality pool from just about everyone involved confirmed by the fact we had more dishes last night than any night yet with Colin, 8 Ball, Matt and John Martin all hitting one at some point over the night. Another new winner last night giving us 5 different winners in 5 weeks which shows anyone on their night can win this. Colin picked up a derserved win especially after a close fought semi final against Ian McColl which could have went either way. Well done to Jonathan and unlucky to Lee, sorry about the delay in results but I was in party mode since Thursday and this is the first chance I've had to get them up. Thursday was a really good night again, 4 new faces in the Quarters really added to the tourney. We have a slight problem with mixing in the poker next door, from this week on there will be nobody allowed to play in the poker until they have finished all their games in the pool tourney, not only do me and Jack have enough to do without chasing people up, we have also had complaints from the poker lads about people leaving the game to go and play pool. Because of this myself and Jim Lowe (guy that runs the poker) have agreed that the pool players can't play poker till all their matches are completed.

Well done to Ian and unlucky to Colin, Ian became the first player to win for a second time last night and to be honest he looked a strong favourite early on in the night though had to come through maybe our strongest field of players yet. We hit 20 last night for the first time which Jack and myself are delighted at, though with the increased numbers and current format it did run on late last night. For next week we are going to tweak the format a bit, we will keep the group stages but will likely make the groups shorter to give us more time to play with. We have been promised at least 1 if not 2 new tables in the near future and once that happens there will be no problem having groups of 5 as we did last night but on 2 tables 40 group games is a bit much to be honest. Thanks to everyone for being patient last night, apart for running late it was a great tourney and I for one enjoyed it.

Well done to Lee and unlucky Jonathan, sorry for the delay but I've been busy and this is the first chance I've had to put the results up. The two finalist played really well all night and it looked like they would meet in the final if not before. For the second week in a row I managed to get to the semi's without dropping a frame, maybe one of these weeks I'll go all the way . Nice to see a few new faces again, one of whom Stevie Buchanan who looked one of the front runners but came up just short in the semi's.

Well done to Russell and unlucky Stu, Always the bridesmaid never the bride comes to mind (sorry Stu had to put it in ), Seriously though anyone could have won tonight as nobody seemed to bring their A game to the table, Russell did play well all night and deserved to win over the course as he was probably the most consistent player. Big shout out to Andy Allen tonight, he took a few good scalps on the night but just fell short to Stu even though he probably should have taken a 1-0 lead. Thanks guys for tonight, for next week we might tweak the rules slightly as a few things were brought up tonight but if we do we will post it first.

P.S Last wee note at the bottom here, we are planning to run this tourney over the summer break every week but only if it's worth our while, I know it's asking alot but if people could let us know if they plan to play over the summer or not it would make a difference to us. We don't want to turn up one week and we get less than 10 as it would be pointless for all parties. So basically what we are asking is if you plan to play that week give us a call, text or pm and if we don't have enough then we can cancel it in advance if need be.

Well I finally won one of these tourneys , unlucky to James who played well all night and was unlucky not to win himself after beating Colin and Stu. The tourney was wide open on Thursday, Jack, Stu, Colin and Barry all looking good early on but they all fell at some stage before the final. Was happy to get 15 this week, if numbers stay like that then it will be on all summer break, with 2 new table coming to the Club hopefully within the month, we will possibly look at extending the tourney after the summer.
