Well played Bomber, unlucky Kevin.

Cheers to Andy for running the tourney and to Monty for the £ he put towards it.

Well in Bomber, a class act. Unlucky Kev, great effort to get to the final despite giving everyone at least one frame of a start throughout the tournament.

Big thanks to Andy for all his efforts. I only got in the tourney as a last minute replacement but was well worth entering.

Plus big thanks to Monty for supporting the tourney so heavily. Club 2000 is fast turning into the place to play these days Cool

Tournament Report

Sunday the 14th November seen the first annual finals day of the Osprey's masters handicap.

The tournament started back on the 30th of September with 32 of East Kilbride's finest pool players and ran for three consecutive Thursday's.

There was a champions league feel to this tournament as each player was drawn in a group with 3 other players making up 8 groups of 4. Each player was given a handicap at the start of the tournament and keep this throughout. After the player's had played each other once the final group stages were decided. This gave us the draw for the Finals day and would ultimately decide who would be crown Osprey's Handicap Champion.

The Finals day started with 2nd and 3rd from each group playing off to see which tournament they would try to win the cash the winners would play 1st place finishers in the group in The main Tourney and The losers would head to the consolation tournament against the fourth place finishers in the group.

After the playoff matches both tournaments became a straight knockout. In the main event it became clear who was cueing the best and that was Kevin Irving as he ploughed through a strong field to reach the final defeating some class players on the way notably Jim McKenna, Sergio Francini and Scott Collins. At the other side of the main event it was a battle to see who could meet red hot Kevin in the final because as one of the pre tournament favorites they would be able to use there handicap and maybe cause an upset. The man who managed this feet by quietly going about his business was Big David "The Bomber" McKinnon. He took on all comers and managed to get to the final with a gears to spare by beating Lee Miller, Colin Harkness and Lyndsay Robertson.

In the consolation Tournament it look plausible that it would end up a all Top Gun final with 4 players in the last 16 of this event. This ended up the case with Scott Wilson meeting Ben Mason in the Final. It was not as tight as first expected with Scott Wilson running out champion with 5 racks to 2. Scott said after his victory "I will struggle to sleep tonight" as this was his first tournament victory.

Back to the final of the main tournament which was always going to be tight if David "The Bomber" McKinnon would be able to get the first couple of frames which was the case but Kevin came roaring back and without a bad run in one of the frame it could have went to a decider but the Handicap was to much for Kevin to Overcome with David " The Bomber" McKinnon running out 5 Racks to Three 3 and becoming The Osprey's Champion.

Prize Structure for the event ended up

Main Tourney
• Winner = £210
• Runner-up = £130
• Losing Semi = £65
• Losing Quarter Finalist = £20
• Losing Last 16 =£10
Consolation Tourney
• Winner = £55
• Runner up = £25
• Losing semi = £15
• Losing Quarter = £10
• Losing Last 16 = £5

Players must say a big THANK YOU to all the staff at the Osprey's for supporting the event with sponsorship and food throughout on such a grand scale.
